Climbing: Locator bill fails to gain a toehold with climbers

Very interesting and controversial issue in respect to safety/adventure. You should read both sides of the argument, I think they actual do a a descent job explaining the issues. Check out links related to Alpine Style climbing. This essentially is the root of the argument against using personal beacons. Most "alpinists" believe that this is TRUE climbing as you are only using yourself and limited equipment.

The flip side obviously is safety and consideration. If you are lost, people will look for you. If you don't carry and can utilize the beacon then Search & rescue and Family will always look for you.
